Peggy Blair

Peggy Blair

Editor/Publisher & Founder of ReBound Press

Peggy was a lawyer for more than thirty years and has a doctorate in Indigenous law. Her debut novel was rejected 156 times before it was shortlisted for the U.K. Debut Dagger. After a chance meeting with Ian Rankin in a hotel bar in Harrogate, she ended up represented by his U.K. agent. The Beggar’s Opera (also named Midnight in Havana) was translated into six languages and published internationally. It won the Giller Prize Reader’s Choice Award, proving the only way to guarantee failure is to give up and that it’s okay to talk to strange men in bars. A renovator, artist, and Level 6 boxer, she lives just outside Ottawa with a friendly cat and a TV-watching dog.
